Shade

there’s a spot in our yard covered almost competely by shade for the better part of the year (there’s a big tree that blocks out all of the sun). Right now all that’s there is a bunch of dead leaves and some weeds. there is no grass at all, either. All it is is soil . Are there any plants that can grow in this condition?

Trying to decide what plants to plant in a fully shaded garden in zone 6. Looking for something that will have leaves in the winter to complement Hostas in the summer…ideas??

Ooh, there are lots!! I live in Georgia, and Astilibe is very pretty, as are impatiens. I;ve also used coleus and hostas as more of a ground cover, but the impatiens are my favorite in a huge variety of colors.

I have hostas, bleeding heart, and climbing hydrangea that have done well but now the tree that shaded them has now died. How can I keep them shaded till I get them moved? I live in Kansas and the sun gets hot in July and August. Help me please.
