I just planted a vegetable garden in the only spot available to me, which unfortunately is a rat hangout. Someone told me that rats don’t tend to bother vegetable gardens, but I find that hard to believe. Any insight into how to combat them? I’m thinking chicken wire, but then again, they’ll probably burrow (?) Vegetable Gardening Question?
I am setting up a patch of land in my backyard for gardening. Right now I am going to be planting sunflowers,sweet corn, cucumber, radishes and green onions. On the back of a few of the seed packets it says something about planting the seeds on a hill. Is that I think it means? Like you make a row and a little hill all the way down the row? We recently purchased a house that sits on an acre of land in East side of Wisconsin, the previous owner grew tomatoes, onions, potatoes….etc. I am a beginner and need to know the basics as I am from the South. Can anyone suggest the first thing I need to do? and when? Thanks. |
