Is it okay to start seeds this time of year (for herbs, like oregano, pennyroyal, thyme, roman chamomile, etc) if their intended use is for indoor containers? Or is it better to start in spring?

All you need is sunny window , which most herbs like , and plant away. I have 3 window sills that I grow seeds all year long. If you intend to plant any outside then wait till about 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost is due. Otherwise they will get root bound before you can plant them outside in Spring. I would start the seeds in peat pots, those little round or square garden trays,,then replant them in a permanent container, when their acouple inches tall if you want them in for indoors. The pots tend to give them healthier roots to get going strong. Or a regular container is fine mixed with alittle fertilizer. Good luck

you can start seeds any time of the year indoors as long as they get full sun and some warmth. keep away from temperature extremes such as drafts from windows, or heat from heaters. good luck
